Wherefore,
it is an abridgment of the record of the people of Nephi, and also of the
Lamanites—Written to the Lamanites, who are a remnant of the house of Israel;
and also to Jew and Gentile—Written by way of commandment, and also by the
spirit of prophecy and of revelation—Written and sealed up, and hid up unto the
Lord, that they might not be destroyed—To come forth by the gift and power of
God unto the interpretation thereof—Sealed by the hand of Moroni, and hid up
unto the Lord, to come forth in due time by way of the Gentile—The
interpretation thereof by the gift of God.

14 ...After the Gentiles had received the fullness
of the Gospel, the natural branches of the olive tree, or the remnants
of the house of Israel, should be grafted
in, or come to the knowledge
of the true Messiah.
3 Nephi 16
4 And I
command you that ye shall write these sayings after I am gone, that if it so be
that my people at Jerusalem, they who have seen me and been with me in my
ministry, do not ask the Father in my name, that they may receive a knowledge
of you by the Holy Ghost, and also of the other tribes whom they know not of,
that these sayings which ye shall write shall be kept and shall be manifested unto the Gentiles, that through the fulness of the Gentiles,
the remnant of their seed,
who shall be scattered forth upon the face of the earth because of their
unbelief, may be brought in,
or may be brought to a knowledge of
me, their Redeemer.
